'From Sea To Shining Sea' Exhibition, Opens At Fairfield Museum And History Center

The featured models, built by Wiser, are each delicately handcrafted from the hull and rigging to the miniature crew and furnishings. Wiser spends about 800 hours in his "shipyard" making each model after beginning each one with historic research.Although his own model collection spans 4,500 years of maritime history, he prefers to craft 17th, 18th and 19th century vessels. The exhibition will include a wide range of historic ships, including the Susan Constant which, along with the Godspeed and Discovery, brought English colonists to Jamestown, Virginia in 1607; the Sultana, a 1768 schooner; the HM Bark Endeavour, a British Royal Navy research vessel
